What to Consider When Designing Your Invitation

8 October 2026

The invitation is the first thing your guests see about your event. It should look beautiful, but its information must also be correct and easy to read. Before you decide on a design, we recommend you take a look at the following points.

1. Check the details twice

The date, day, time, venue name and address cannot be corrected after printing. Check the spelling of names, surnames and the order of the families together with your family.

2. Keep the text short and clear

Long verses and multi-line texts reduce readability. The invitation sentence, names, date and time, and venue information are usually enough.

3. Pay attention to font and color harmony

Decorative handwriting fonts look beautiful in headings; for details such as the date and address, choose a simple typeface. Thin text on a dark background is hard to read.

4. Choose the paper and printing technique to suit the event

Gold foil, screen printing or offset printing changes the look of the invitation. The choice of envelope and accessories also affects the budget; making these decisions early makes planning easier.

5. Plan your time well

Allow for the time needed for design, approval and printing. Having the invitations reach your guests a few weeks before the event helps you plan attendance.

6. Approve the design before printing

Before printing starts, review the design shown to you one last time together with your family and approve it.

Quick checklist

  • Are the date, time and venue correct?
  • Has the spelling of the names been checked?
  • Is the text readable and short?
  • Have the quantity, printing technique and envelope been chosen?
  • Is the delivery date early enough before the event?
